We are happy to announce that our first event of 2024 will be the Rooted in the Triad: Spring Symposium at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Gardens in Kernersville, NC. If you love gardening or learning about plants, this is the event for you!

"Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden and Guilford Horticultural Society present Rooted in the Triad: Spring Symposium at Ciener. Learn from experts who will provide garden enthusiasts with greater knowledge about plants, their culture and usage. Attendees will also have the opportunity to shop for plants among the many vendors, network with others who share your interests, and explore the Garden. Light breakfast and refreshments included in registration fee.

About the Speakers:
Jenks Farmer - Plantsman, Author & Lecturer
Bio: "Augustus Jenkins Farmer III is a renaissance plantsman. Born into a family of artists, musicians, and farmers, he fell in love with the natural world early in his childhood and later went on to pursue a formal education in Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University and Botanical Garden Design at the University of Washington. As the former director of Riverbanks Botanical Garden and founding horticulturist of Moore Farms Garden, Jenks has a true talent and passion for inspiring people of all ages and from all walks of life to go outside and get their hands dirty."
Lecture: New Southern Gardens & Gardeners – In this lecture, Jenks will show new public spaces and tell their stories. It’ll be followed by a call for ecologically sound and culturally inclusive gardening. For those new to southern gardening, you will get an appreciation for understanding the seasons, soils, humidity, and plant interaction.
Keith Lukowski, B.S., M.S.
Bio: "Keith is the guy behind the rebirth of Durham Garden Center during the pandemic. As the manager and resident horticulturist since August 2020, he is transforming the shop into a public classroom for horticulture. A graduate of NC State University with a degree in Horticulture, he spent 5 years between degrees working for Plant Delights Nursery at Juniper Level Botanic Garden before pursuing graduate studies in Public Horticulture and Community Planning at Auburn University."
